  • Hello, my name is Leila Long. I’m a music educator from Sumter, SC. I became aware of Diane Downs through a college music professor at University of South Carolina. The professor mentioned an elementary school that had a percussion ensemble located in Kentucky. I was blown away and I wanted to meet with her and establish a group at my school. Because of her, I was able to start a group at my school called the Lemira Elementary Percussion Ensemble. We’ve been in existence since 1999 and have had so many wonderful opportunities. We’ve traveled and performed at various events throughout the southeastern region of the United States. I was extremely elated when I had the chance to meet with Ms. Diane. I thanked her and expressed how much of an impact she made in my life. Currently, I’m retired but I work with the current music teacher, LaCharles Harris. His vision is to continue and build the legacy of the Lemira Percussion Ensemble. Since then, we’ve worked together to continue excelling our students musical gifts and talents. We would love to meet with you all and collaborate something together. I have a vision to perform a joint concert with both of our groups. If anything, it would be a wonderful chance for both of our groups to see how music can bring all people together. Please feel free to explore our website listed. Hope to hear from you soon!

  • Hi my name is Geraldine Walker and I am a public school music teacher in Shreveport, Louisiana. My music supervisor saw you guys on You tube and asked me to get in touch with you to find out how you got started, how you introduced the concept to your school and how I might form a group here within our school system. I’m looking forward to hearing from you and I’m excited about the possibilities.

  • I saw a youtube video of the Louisville Leopards and thought it was fantastic. I have fraternal triplets who are 13 and have taken piano since they were about 6. They had the opportunity to participate in a Homeschool Band – and because of that started playing drums – and anything percussion. The HS Band has ended, the conductor Jill had done it voluntarily for 10 years. I would love to start or join another music program for my boys. There are a lot of homeschoolers and it is a question of bringing them together. I do not have have any music training so I don’t feel I can lead that type of effort. I would volunteer and support it though. Our HS Band leader, was educated and talented. I don’t even know where to start to find another Leader. THX

  • Good day! My name is Valerie Crawford and I am a music teacher in Palm Beach County Florida. I have the opportunity to teach a percussion ensemble in a middle school. The principal made it clear that he wants to have Led Zeppelin percussion. So I checked out your YouTube video and now I understand why. Wow. I absolutely love what you all are doing. I am in the process of ordering a couple of your tunes from Hal Leonard Publications, but I could not find the Zeppelin’ medley. Do you sell that or can you direct me to where I can order this?
I am interested in opening my own school using your model. Can you help me with the overall process from setting up to closing night.

    Thank you kindly,
