How to Join
We take kids into The Leopards right after 1st grade. The first step in becoming involved is to attend one of our summer camps. After camp, kids will have the opportunity to join our performing Leopards, Leopards Lite, or our Middle School Ensembles. Spots are limited.
Louisville Leopard Percussionists (Grades 2-6)
This is our main performing ensemble for kids in grades 2-6. Members are added in 2nd grade and continue in the group through 6th grade. Graduates of LLP can continue in our Steel Leopard Ensemble. This group practices twice a week.
Leopards Lite (Grades 2-5)
Leopards Lite is an expansion group of the Louisville Leopard Percussionists. We had so many kids interested in the Leopard experience, we created Lite to allow more kids to participate in our program. Leopards Lites is a less intense version of the Leopards which culminates with a performance on the LLP’s Big Gig each spring. Kids who join our Lite group first attend one of our summer camps held each July. This group practices one day a week.
Middle School Ensemble (Grades 6-8)
Our Middle School Ensemble is our newest ensemble developed for older kids. After participating in a great summer camp where we introduced the kids to The Leopard way of learning, we find some great new kids for MSE. This group practices one day a week.
Steel Leopards (Grades 7-9)
After graduating from the main group of The Leopards, so many of our kids wanted to continue making music together that our Steel Leopards group was created. The group was founded in 2009 by Aaron Klausing and serves past members of the performing group of Leopards in 7th-9th grade. This group practices one day a week.
